I’ve been through one natural disaster and its something you never want to go through…what I found was the people coming together to help each other even when families lost everything they own including pets and livestock—so maybe i have a soft spot for what these people are going through. That said, I do see the other side of it…to your point Nine…maybe judgment has been rendered and this will keep happening.
I've been through two Pearry, I give an account of hurricane Gloria in my book, what I didn't say was it was me and my boys cleared the downed trees so over a thousand families could get back to their houses, no charge to Long Islands hopelessly corrupt infrastructure at the time. Sandy recently blacked out Long Island for weeks. We had one big pizza place down the block fired up their generator and feed then whole neighborhood with free pizza in the first few days. Regardless of how I feel about their behavior if I was laying in the street these people would pick me up and fix me. They're my neighbors and some courtesy is in order. As far as that hurricane hitting while their sons and daughters were across the ocean squashing Arabs for Jews, I told you the Gods and the SS both love irony...
The point here? Helping one’s own locally. That I will do. Sending money to a charity? That’s like giving money to Substack. Most of the money goes to the hucksters taking a cut.

Thank you Jack, I think I’ve seen more humane altruistic behavior when communities are faced with catastrophes (most likely caused by human interference/technology to begin with). Nevertheless I think the best of the human soul/consciousness/spirit or what have you is to be seen, experienced and felt. Gives me hope sometimes that society is not completely hopeless. And yes the ….IRONY!

I am helping my grown daughter and her husband buy a house in this inflated American wasteland. Trump supporters in the far off south land can pound sand.
I see local and help local because I see where my money actually goes. We had a tornado in 2010 which destroyed most of the town. Everyone stuck together and the town is even better. No looting, 50 guys with chainsaws were nothing against the horrific takedown. It took weeks to clear the backroads and that was with heavy equipment.

Lots of destruction, roads out with a heavy state police presence and dozens of locals clearing roads with heavy equipment. The man was not hindered at all by police and allowed to film and interview many locals on camera.
